Actavo Delivers Environmentally-Friendly Project Office to Sisk’s Capital Dock Development

Actavo-mastActavo Building Solutions, a leading supplier of modular buildings, has supplied an environmentally-friendly onsite project office to international construction company, Sisk.

The new facility will serve as a hub for Sisk during its contract to build the new Capital Dock scheme on the eastern end of Sir John Rogerson’s Quay in Dublin 2. This contract was won by Actavo through a competitive bid process.

The modular unit has been built to the highest quality standards, with facilities including offices, meetings rooms and a canteen and welfare facilities for the 540 construction team working onsite (comprising engineers, quantity surveyors, labourers, plasters, electricians and other key personnel).

Meeting Sisk’s commitment to environmentally-friendly practices, the project office has been designed, built and delivered by Actavo | Building Solutions and includes automatic lights, LED lights, dual flush toilets and spaces for construction staff to park their bicycles.

The Capital Dock project, expected to take three years to complete, includes a proposed 19-storey residential tower at the mouth of the River Liffey, and is the largest new development in Dublin city centre since the start of the economic downturn in 2008. The project office supplied by Actavo has a floor area of 740m2, and took eight weeks to build, primarily at Actavo’s manufacturing facility in Kill, Co. Kildare.

Liam Brew, Operations Director, Actavo | Building Solutions said: “Using modern methods of construction, we are dramatically reducing both overall construction programmes and time onsite without compromising on design, quality or safety. We are proud to have been involved in developing this onsite project office for Sisk, and to have delivered the bespoke solution to the construction firm’s requirements.”

Shane Glynn, Senior Contracts Manager, Sisk commented: “We are delighted to have worked with Actavo | Building Solutions on this project. The unit supplied to the Capital Dock construction site has been developed to the highest quality levels and provides an ideal hub and temporary office for our team for the duration of the project.”

Construction firms now have an added responsibility of providing their staff with better onsite facilities, and Actavo | Building Solutions has developed a range of site accommodation and highly-secure portable units specifically aimed at helping companies fulfil their new requirements.

The 4.8-acre Capital Dock site is part of the capital’s strategic development zone, which benefits from fast-track planning. In 2015, Sisk was selected by U.S.  property group, Kennedy Wilson, to build the mammoth Capital Dock office and apartment scheme.
