Ballymore, the international property development company, and its development partner, Oxley Holdings, have received planning approval for 741 residential homes at their Connolly Quarter development adjacent to Connolly Railway Station in Dublin 1. An Bord Pleanála’s decision was made under the Strategic Housing Development scheme and is subject to compliance with a number of planning conditions.

Sean Mulryan, Chairman and Group Chief Executive of Ballymore, said: “I welcome An Bord Pleanála’s decision to approve the development of 741 much needed residential units in Dublin 1. Dublin has a housing shortage and I am delighted that Ballymore can play its part in creating hundreds of new homes, including 75 social homes, in the heart of Dublin. At Ballymore, we’re committed to true integration into the communities within which we build. The Connolly Quarter will be no different and we’ll continue to work closely with the local community as we develop the Connolly Quarter.”

The 741 residential units approved form part of an overall masterplan for the Connolly Quarter which will also have two office buildings along with an hotel and over 20 retail and amenity units. The masterplan envisages the creation of over 1,000 direct construction and non-construction jobs for five years. This includes training and apprenticeships opportunities at all levels which will be offered to the local Dublin 1 community first. On completion, the Connolly Quarter will be home to over 5,000 people who will live and work in this newly regenerated part of Dublin 1.

The overall Connolly Quarter masterplan development extends to c. 80,000 sq. m and will comprise apartments, offices, hotel, local community clubs, restaurants, bars, retail, and landscaped plazas.
