Irish building company Grafton Group has announced it is adding 170 new jobs in Ireland over the next two years as the construction industry in Ireland continues to improve. Grafton owns a number of builder and plumber merchant stores including Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley, Sam Hire, Telfords and Davies. One hundred of the new jobs will be created this year with the remaining 70 to be added in 2018. It will bring the number of jobs added by the company to 350 since 2014.

Grafton said the new positions reflect the strong recovery in the repairs and maintained sector and a modest up improvement in the number of new builds. The company stated that jobs will be created across Ireland. The new stores will be designed to accommodate easier access and delivery for builders operating in congested urban locations.

“These roles represent a significant opportunity for young people to join a growth industry and avail of the significant training and development provided within the company,” said Grafton Group CEO Eddie Kelly.

“We see this as further evidence of a tangible and sustainable turning point for the construction sector in Ireland,” Mr Kelly added.
