Kingspan has welcomed the signing of the Paris Agreement that took at the UN General Assembly in New York. The agreement is the output of the COP 21 negotiations in Paris last December.

Commenting on the agreement, Gene Murtagh, CEO of Kingspan, said: “The strong outcome of the Paris agreement signals the beginning of the long term path towards decarbonisation through a range of critical areas including energy efficiency and renewable energy generation. Working together we can achieve our collective goal of a clean global economy.”

Kingspan has made a strong commitment to addressing climate change and reducing its own carbon carbon footprint. In 2011 Kingspan announced its intention to operate with net zero energy impact by 2020 and it is currently on track to exceed an interim target of 50% this year.

In November 2015 Kingspan was awarded a position on The Climate “A” List by CDP, the international not-for-profit that measures environmental impact of thousands of companies around the world. 113 “A Listers” appear on the 2015 list, which was been produced at the request of 822 investors who represent more than a third of the world’s invested capital.

Kingspan is also the only Irish member of the RE 100 campaign, a global, collaborative initiative of influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.

The RE 100 coalition was established by international environmental not-for-profit The Climate Group, whose CEOMark Kenber said:
“Businesses have a fundamental role to play in delivering a low carbon economy, and the Paris Agreement is giving them the confidence to go further and faster in their efforts.”
