Irish energy services company UrbanVolt has completed its 100th project installation. In just over one year, UrbanVolt has upgraded 100 business premises to LED lighting via its zero capex ‘Light as a Service’ business model, reducing these clients energy costs by over €20 million over the next five years.

It is now the largest commercial and industrial lighting provider in Ireland, and one of the only companies which has the capability and financial backing to carry out 100 infrastructure projects simultaneously. These projects range in size up to 1 million sq.ft.

UrbanVolt provides ‘Light as a Service requiring no capital investment from its client companies. The company funds, fits and maintains LED lighting solutions for large commercial properties (such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, car parks or large offices) and shares the cash saved by the client as a result.

The model immediately delivers net cash savings of an average of 50% of the current energy spend for the property owners – even after UrbanVolt is paid its share of the savings.

It is now marking its 100th installation at the renowned Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry, Dublin. UrbanVolt replaced almost 1,400 light fittings across the state-of-the-art premises, cutting the energy consumption for the clinic’s lighting by two thirds, saving consumption of almost 500,000 kWh per year.

The clinic has also cut its energy bills by €34,000 per annum, which can be reinvested in patient services. The upgraded lighting ensures the facility remains the leader in its field and keeps with its mission of having a facility which ensures optimised patient outcomes.

UrbanVolt has now replaced 40,000 industrial light fixtures for Irish businesses, as part of their commitment to the UN’s Global Lighting Challenge (GLC). The huge reduction in energy consumption delivered by the LEDs also helps bring Ireland closer to meeting the 2020 carbon emission reduction targets.
