Minister of State in the Department of Enterprise and local Fianna Fáil TD, Dara Calleary, enthusiastically welcomed the commencement of construction on a new manufacturing plant in Athenry, Co Galway, signaling the creation of up to 1,000 jobs for the West of Ireland.

Dexcom, a prominent US multinational recognized globally for its continuous glucose monitoring solutions for individuals with diabetes, has chosen Athenry for its inaugural manufacturing site in Europe.

Minister Dara Calleary attended the sod-turning ceremony, expressing his delight at Dexcom’s substantial investment in the West of Ireland. He emphasized the significance of this venture, characterizing it as one of the most substantial private sector investments ever witnessed in the region. The move reflects a considerable vote of confidence in the growing talent pool within the area.

Minister Calleary acknowledged the pivotal role played by Atlantic Technological University and the University of Galway in promoting educational excellence and fostering collaborations between academia and industry.
