Ahead of its annual Supply Chain Awards, Sisk carried out research with its suppliers, sub-contractors and manufacturers that indicates an upward trend in sustainability awareness and engagement in the construction sector with 59 percent of its suppliers having a net-zero and carbon reduction plan compared with just 52 percent in 2022. Sisk is also perceived as being further advanced in its approach to eliminating carbon emissions across its business compared with other construction companies (2023: 51 percent) V (2022: 45 percent).

Over 60 percent of the Sisk supply chain are aware of its 2030 Sustainability Roadmap – Building today, Caring for tomorrow compared with 54 percent in 2022. Furthermore, 55 percent believe that Sisk is performing better in sustainability in comparison to other contractors.

As part of its 2030 sustainability roadmap ‘Building today, Caring for tomorrow’, Sisk submitted its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling organisations to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The SBTi’s Target Validation Team has classified Sisk’s scope 1 and 2 target ambition and has determined that it is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.

Sisk recent;y celebrated its annual Supply Chain Awards. which has grown to become one of the biggest occasions in Irish construction, at The Convention Centre Dublin with over 900 people in attendance. The gala ceremony brought its Irish, UK and European supply chain partners together with 200 of its sub-contractors and suppliers shortlisted for awards with 19 winners on the night.

Mark McGreevy, Chief Commercial Officer at Sisk, said: “The research conducted by Sisk indicates very clearly that our supply chain is very aware about the urgency to reduce carbon emissions. This positive development is crucial to us collectively tackling the challenges we face as a sector.
