The latest GeoDirectory Residential Buildings Report brings encouraging news for Wexford’s housing sector, revealing positive developments in the region. As of December 2023, 852 residential buildings were constructed in Wexford, accompanied by the establishment of 1,045 new address points. Notably, Wexford’s residential vacancy rate stands impressively low at 2.9%, surpassing the national average of 3.9%, indicating efficient utilization of housing resources.

The report, compiled by EY, emphasizes robust construction activity in Dublin and Leinster counties, consistently marking the highest levels of new developments across Ireland. Examining the real estate landscape, the report highlights 1,830 residential property transactions in Wexford during the twelve months leading up to October 2023, with an average property price of €267,377.

Dara Keogh, CEO of GeoDirectory, provided insightful commentary on the findings, noting a surge in construction and new residential address points nationwide. The report also identifies a sustained decline in vacant and derelict properties, signalling successful efforts and policies to incorporate these units into the housing stock.
