Holcim Appoints Miljan Gutovic as CEO
Holcim, a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions, has announced the appointment of Miljan Gutovic as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective from May 1, 2024. This strategic move comes as part of the company’s commitment to advancing its leadership in the construction industry.
Gutovic, an accomplished Australian national, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been an integral member of Holcim’s Group Executive Committee since 2018. His journey within the company includes noteworthy tenures as the Head of the Region Middle East and Africa, followed by the Region Europe and Operational Excellence. Under his leadership, Holcim not only fortified its market positions but also achieved industry-leading margins, with a particular focus on driving profitability through decarbonization initiatives.
A holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Material Sciences and Engineering from the University of Technology in Sydney, Gutovic combines academic excellence with a deep understanding of the intricacies of the construction sector.
Jan Jenisch, the outgoing CEO, expressed his satisfaction with the Board’s decision, stating, “I am very pleased that the Board has appointed Miljan as the new CEO of Holcim. He is a highly qualified successor who has played an instrumental role in Holcim’s successful transformation to become the leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions.”
Jan Jenisch will transition to the role of chairman, focusing on his re-election at the upcoming Annual General Meeting in May. Additionally, he has been entrusted with leading the planned US listing of Holcim’s North American business. Jenisch remarked, “I am honoured to stand for re-election as the chairman of the Board and to lead the planned US listing of Holcim’s North America business. I will continue to dedicate all my efforts to the future of Holcim and all our stakeholders.”
